About Us

Mission

The Colorado Nonprofit Development Center’s mission is to enhance the effective and efficient use of community resources by providing charitable projects with fiscal sponsorship as well as management and capacity-building services.

History

The Colorado Nonprofit Development Center (CNDC) was formed in 1999 by foundation and community leaders looking for a way to reduce the risk of investing time and resources in new charitable projects while encouraging innovation in social enterprises. Modeled after the comprehensive fiscal sponsorship program developed by Community Partners in Los Angeles, CNDC accepted its first project in 2000.

Initial funders and supporters of CNDC included the Adolph Coors Foundation, The Denver Foundation, Holland & Hart LLP, JFM Foundation, Piton Foundation, and Rose Community Foundation.

Over the years, CNDC’s comprehensive fiscal sponsorship proved to not only benefit emerging charitable ideas but also enabled more established charitable projects to share administrative and management costs and focus their time and energy on their core competencies – quality services in the community.

In March 2005, CNDC extended its expertise in nonprofit financial management to existing 501(c)(3) organizations by launching Nonprofit Support Services. Nonprofit Support Services clients outsource their accounting to CNDC and receive hands-on support in financial management.

CNDC has supported more than 90 charitable projects and more than 20 nonprofit clients as they all work toward improving the quality of life in Colorado.
